Nautical Headboard Bench goes Country!

Hello again!  I’m back!  Amazing, right?
Remember in yesterday’s post about my Nautical/Beachy Headboard Bench I mentioned that I had a little surprise for you?  I am sure you have been waiting on pins and needles just curious as ever what it is!

As I was working on my Headboard Bench I was thinking

of going in the direction of “Nautical” and MyLove was insisting it looked “Country”.

I decided to leave it up to my Facebook Followers for a vote and boy did they ever have some opinions.  Truthfully “Country” or “Western” won in a close race, but I could not get the “Nautical” look out of my mind so decided to use colors that went well with both themes.

I’m sure glad I did.
I chose to paint Annie Sloan Duck Egg Blue on the frame and Minwax Old American stain on the bench slats.  I just LOVE that combination!

I staged it both ways…Beachy/Nautical and Cowboy/Western.  I had so much fun.
Here is the Nautical Bench gone Country!
Cute pillows, right?

I tried to give you a hint in yesterday’s post with the mason jar with sweet tea.  Did you guess it?
And check out my adorable model who begged to be in a ton of pictures!

I also staged it in my front yard next to my wagon wheel and sweet tea mason jar and had to convince myself that it is not in my business plan to keep every single piece that I make over.  It’s hard when finally after years of Curb Alerts and makeovers that my own children now beg me to keep half of my projects.

Business Plan, Business Plan, Business Plan!
With that in mind I quickly posted it on some local online websites before I changed my mind with pics of both ideas (we live near a lake AND rural farm areas)
I wanted to appeal to the masses 🙂
Within minutes my phone blew up with notifications of offers on the bench and lots of messages to see more.
Within FIVE minutes it sold!  I was so excited!
I TOTALLY believe in staging, I even got offers on the pillows, my wagon wheel (no way!) and the mason jar!
Only the Bench is for Sale People!!!
(okay and pillows too)
I had so many people inquiring about it that I have sold a few more custom benches based on
And get this, while accompanying this little cutie ^ ^ ^ to ballet this evening one of the other moms mentioned that she saw the bench on the website this morning and was in line to purchase the western one.
She then requested that instead I makeover her daughter’s baby bed instead!  How fun is THAT?
Hey, maybe our ballet studio needs a bench as well (or two), check out their wall color!

Now that you have seen them both, which is your favorite?
I’d love to know!

  1. I love both ways you stage it. I saw it as a country bench but after seeing it staged I loved the nautical look too. Staging thing for sale makes all the difference. We were selling out hot tub a few years ago and I staged it with towels and wine and wine glasses and it sold in 2 hours.
Can't wait to see the rest of the bed benches.

  2. Tami, you did a lovely job of presenting both styles. The design on the bench could be either a ship's wheel or a wagon wheel. I believe that wherever it sits, and is decorated by the new owner, it will pull in the surrounding aura for either nautical or country. Either way it's a winner! Yep…I do love those pillows!
